The Desk

Who writes this, and what we hold it to.

Every guide on Best Times to Travel is published by the Travel Desk, an independent family editorial team. We're a traveling homeschool family that plans trips with data and then takes them, so you don't have to guess.

Our promise

  • The right place at the wrong time is the wrong place. No destination gets a vague "spring and fall are lovely." Every month gets a verdict, built from climate normals, event calendars, and closure patterns, with the reasoning shown. It's the whole reason we exist.
  • Independence over payouts. We earn affiliate commissions on some links, but verdicts are set on the merits before money is considered. No tourism board, hotel, or brand can buy a spot, a badge, or a softer sentence. See our disclosure.
  • Real data, honest limits. Climate normals are long-run averages, not forecasts, and we say so. Event dates shift year to year; confirm exact dates with the official source before booking around one. We never invent a date, a price, or a fact.
  • We keep it current. 3 guides and counting, re-checked as seasons, prices, and event calendars change.

How we work

The full methodology, from climate normals and festival calendars to closure research and the family trips that check our homework, is laid out in detail on How We Research. It's the same process behind every verdict on this site.
