The right place at the wrong time
is the wrong place.

Best Times to Travel exists because "best time to visit" advice is almost uniformly useless. Search it for any city on Earth and you get the same shrug: "spring and fall are lovely, summer is busy, winter is quiet." That answer plans nothing. It doesn't tell you which week the crowds actually break, which festival doubles the hotel rates, which month the famous coast road closes, or when the weather chart and the price chart cross in your favor.

We are a traveling homeschool family based in Austin, Texas, and the world is our classroom: we plan trips for a living, take them as a family, and got tired of vague timing advice the same way you did. So we built the site we wanted: a month-by-month verdict for every great destination, with the reasoning shown. Go months, shoulder months, and avoid months, named plainly, backed by climate normals, event calendars, closure patterns, and what we saw on the ground.

On independence: this site is funded by affiliate commissions on some of the links we publish, mostly travel gear we genuinely use. No tourism board, hotel, airline, or brand can buy a verdict, a ranking, or a kinder month. If October is the wrong month for a destination, the page says so, whoever that inconveniences.

Every trip starts with the same question: where should we go, and when? We answer it with data, then double-check it with our own passports.
